Tourism sector could generate job avenues: Khandu
JANG, Aug 28: Mystical Tawang which has already won the hearts of thousands of domestic as well as foreign tourists for its unique but mesmerizing scenic beauty and warm and hospitable people is now readying for new surprises to attract tourist.
Efforts are on to engrave portraits of Sangey Chomden (Lord Buddha), Guru Rinpoche (Guru Padmasambhava) and Chandeze (Tara Devi) from the steep rocky mountain of Sharo village in Tawang district under the initiatives of the Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Dorjee Khandu.
The portraits are expected to be completed by next two or three years as the work on it has been started. The site of portrait is easily visible to the commuters driving from Jang towards Tawang and after completion it would be one of the tourist hotspot of the district.
Khandu while personally inspecting the site directed the artist to ensure minute finishing of the sculpture. He viewed that since Tawang is already a hot tourist destination, avenues and new initiatives have to be taken up to attract more tourists in the near future. While giving light on the benefits of tourism, Khandu said promotion of tourism can generate job avenues for unemployed youths and enhance the economy of the region.
Earlier, on the day Khandu interacted with Anis (Buddhist nuns) of Singsur Ani Gompa at Lhou village and assured all possible assistance from his end.

Nekam returns from China World C’ships
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Talum Moya Nekam who represented India at the 6th World Shito-
Nikam along with 18 other players represented the country but missed the opportunity to win any medal for the country.
His first fight was against a very strong opponent China’s Zhu Gangyong who won the Silver medal at the Championships.
Though, disappointed with his performance, Nikam promises to work harder and improve in his next event.
DC for PDS items reaching people
AALO, Aug 28: Strategic plan and possible steps to be taken so that PDS items reaches the genuine card holders was discussed in the District Level Vigilance Committee meeting held in DC’s Conference Hall on August 27.
West Siang Deputy Commissioner Amjad Takm stressed on the need for proper checking at various level before disbursement to the FPS dealers.
He also directed the carriage contractors to submit the bills in time within 3 months. The FPS godown at Basar should be made functional at the earliest, he added.

An awareness meeting on Swine Flu was held at Khonsa today which was attended by HoDs and health workers.
Tirap DC, Ankur Garg while appreciating the DMO and his staff for taking the initiative, urged the people to take personal care and not to panic.
He said that Doctors were aware of the situation and is competent to tackle any eventualities. The DC asked the HoDs to convey to their staff the basic knowledge on how to protect oneself from being infected by Swine Flu.

Govt revises weekly schedules of state helicopters
NAHARLAGUN, Aug. 28: Consequent upon increase of flying hour ceiling limit of helicopters by Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, the state government has revised the existing weekly schedules of State helicopters (Pawan Hans) by connecting the new locations Paglam, Mechuka, Damin, Jairampur, Dirang, Bomdila, Miao, Vijaynagar, Singha and Hawai to be effective from September 1 next.
Flight service to the newly inducted locations will however be extended on receipt of confirmation from the respective Administrative Officers about readiness of helipads with safety and security arrangements besides detailment of officers & staff for ticketing/maintaining the service at those locations.
This was stated in a release by Director of Civil Aviation, T.T. Gamdik today. DIPR
Misuse of political power alleged
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Galo Students' Union (GSU) and West Slang District Students' Union (WSDSU) vehemently condemned the alleged misuse of government machinery and political power by the so called law protectors.
The unions further alleged that Dr. T Basar DHS, the first Gynecologist of the state and also senior member of the Galo society has been targeted for petty political interest.
We are all law abiding citizens. We do criticize corruption in any form by any individual or organization, the unions said and added that there are certain norms that have to be followed for checking corruption or the highest degree of crime.
The unions further question the state government as to why 'so cause' notice was not served to Dr. Basar, if at all he is alleged to have indulged in wrong act? Why was he not given chance to explain himself?
The way political leaders in power misuse the Government Machineries is demoralizing and should be condemned by all concerned citizens, civil societies and other Students' Organizations. The unions also alleged that leaders for their political interest and to do away with their rivals have started new technique of malpractice to retain their political power in an inexcusable way.
It further said that since Dr. Basar has been proved to be clean, the unions appealed the party involved in the case to withdraw their baseless allegation.
GSU stands for Galo Society in particular and Arunachal as a whole but we condemn anyone trying to disrupt unity and peace of our society.

Sonam Lamoh wins the State level science seminar
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Students from across the state today participated in the State Level Science Seminar conducted by Directorate of School Education in collaboration with BITM, Kolkata at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Itanagar.
Most students that participated in the seminar belonged to VKV Schools of Oyan, Sonpura, Joirampur, Roing, Anjaw, Koloriang, Ziro, Kuporijo, Sejusa, one from Ramakrishna Mission, Khonsa, Kendra Vidhyalaya, West Tenga Valley and Govt. Higher Secondary School, Naharlagun.
Sonam Lamoh Monpa of Ramakrishna Mission School Khonsa was adjusted the first prize while Jirgam Kado of VKV, Ziro and Honya Doke of VKV, Kuporijo were placed in second and third respectively.

With the support of NABARD, AASA organized these unorganized farmers in the form of Club and encourage each Farmer Club to open saving account in the bank.
While highlighting the programmes objective AASA president S Teetu Yoka said that rural development can only be possible when farmers are properly groomed and supported.
To groom the marginal farmers for socio economic development, Farmer Club has been formed and various income generation training programmes have been imparted, he informed.

Bring transparency in tourism deptt
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The Mascot Network Society (MNS) in its executive body meeting has urged the Chief Minister who is also holding the portfolio of tourism ministry to bring in transparency in tourism department and take up major tourism development projects to amplify revenue earning.
Pointing out the alleged illegal appointment of the TIOs and DTOs, the society is of the opinion that tourism is an important department which needs special attention from the CM to bring transparency.
MNS general secretary Nguri Rajiv in the meeting observed that despite vast tourism potential in the state and flow of central fund, the tourism sector could not come up to the expectation.
MNS claimed that union tourism ministry has enhanced the fund allocation for the North East and with proper implementation of tourism schemes the state can earn huge revenue from tourism sector which could ultimately help realize the hope and aspirations that has been enshrined in NE Vision documents.

Describing NREGA as mother of all schemes, the DC informed the participants that in many states NREGA has changed the face of many villages and further informed that many villagers who had earlier left their villages had returned because NREGA had generated employment in the villages.

The DC passionately appealed to the BDOs, HoDs and Panchayat members to motivate the villagers to adopt terrace cultivation by doing away with the destructive and unproductive shifting cultivation adding that more schemes on terrace cultivation must be included under NREGA as the topography and climate in the district were conducive.
He further said that jhum cultivation was not economically sustainable and was disastrous for environment.
Later, the BDOs apprised the members regarding progress of schemes under NREGA. The ZPMs and HoDs actively participated in the discussion and they all called for coordinated effort to make the schemes successful.

One Day Seminar on Financial Inclusion held at Seppa
SEPPA, Aug 28: A one day district level seminar on the financial inclusion was organized by NABARD in collaboration with the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) at Project Director’s office Seppa today. The seminar was meant for the bankers, SHGs and NGOs.
Chief Manager, SBI local Head office Guwahati, M K Mishra highlighted the Biometric mode of transaction through a smart card technology, card reader mobile phone, SBI Tiny card which can be avail through proper channel from its nearest Bank.
He also elaborated on the concept of Business Correspondent (BC), Business Facilities (BF) besides other benefits and facilities in this mode of transaction.
DGM, NABARD, Itanagar, A K Pasrija spoke on the recommendation of committee on financial inclusion.
While advocating SHGs to apply for the Biometric mode of transaction, he said that SHGs in the villages can act as small bank. He also suggested for formation of farmers club to have more benefits. Pasrija further informed that there are atleast 40,000 SHGs in the country in which 4 crore household are included.
He said that NABARD is ready to bear all the expenses to train all SHGs and volunteers. Pasrija further informed about the strategy of the NABARD for Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) and Financial Inclusion technology Fund (FIFT), Micro finance, Financial Inclusion and Fund transfer Technology Intervention, the concept of Farmers club and the SHGs action plan for the district.
The SHGs present in the seminar applaud the step taken by the NABARD, SBI Guwahati and SBI Sepppa branch.
The meeting was attended by DRDA Project Director, Raju Mandal, BM SBI Seppa, N Paul Chaudory, Nodal officer, Financial Inclusion NABARD, Itanagar, Dahey Sangno, CO cum BDO Richikron ,various government officials and the SHGs.
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Arunachal Pradesh general secretary Techi Necha today urged the people, especially the people of the Itanagar assembly segment not to believe in rumour or allegations leveled against him that ‘he is mutually compromising with certain leader vying to become ruling party nominee’.
Necha, who claims to be one of the contenders for the NCP from Itanagar segment said that “party candidature completely lies with the Pradesh Election Committee which yet to complete the formalities.”
NCP does not recognize the back door entry of any one to be party nominee, he said and requested the individuals concern to sit together to maintain good track record for the candidature of the NCP nominee for Itanagar segment. He requested that illogical allegations against him should not be hurled, rather everyone should come out to strengthen the party.
NABARD sponsored programmeon Bamboo and Cane Craft
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: NABARD sponsored three weeks Rural Entrepreneurship Development Programme on “Bamboo and Cane Craft Activities through N N Charitable Society, Sagalee, Papumpare District.
26 participants from different villages participated in the programme. The participants exuded their confidence on Bamboo and Cane Craft and hoped to set up small unit of Bamboo & Cane.
NABARD Asst Manager H K Barua appreciated the participants for their active participation during the three week long programme. He indicated that the objective of REDP is self employment through setting up of units either individually or in group mode.
He further hoped that the present programme will not only generate income and employment but will help in conservation of traditional craft. As regards, marketing of products, NABARD will sponsor melas/exhibitions for exhibition and sale of products at block, district, state and national level on selective basis, he said.
The BDO expressed his satisfaction on the enthusiasm shown by the participants on the Bamboo & Cane Craft. He assured the participants to extend his cooperation.
B.Deori, Senior Manager, Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank suggested for setting up units with Bank credit. He advised N.N.Charitable Society to facilitate marketing of the products by sending the participants to various exhibitions.
Representatives from Panchayat & Rural Development, Gram Panchayat leaders, members of Farmers’ Clubs and Self Help Groups were present in the valediction function.
Teachers’ effectiveness training held
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: Government Middle School, Papu Nallah, organized a one day motivational training for all the 30 teaching staff. The programme which was an initiative taken by the Headmistress, K. C. Lowangcha aimed at making the teachers better motivated and committed to teaching.
The resource person Father Cyriac, Director, Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar dwelt at length on topics such as Class Room Management, Communication Skills and Challenges of Teaching Today.
Driving home the main theme, as the name of the programme suggests “Teaching Job to Educating Mission”, the resource person skillfully created interest in the participants to change from an attitude of treating teaching as a job or a profession to an attitude of mission.
While speaking at the valedictory function, K. C. Lowangcha thanked the DDSE, Papum Pare for the encouragement in organizing the programme.
The participants further appreciated the resource person and the headmistress for making this innovative programme available to them.
The resource person further congratulated the Headmistress and the Staff for their keen interest and said that DBYC will always be ready to render any service that will help teachers in their endeavour to take up teaching with missionary zeal.
7th KKSU foundation day celebrated
ITANAGAR, Aug 28: The Kargu Kardi Students’ Union celebrated its 7th foundation day at the Union’s headquarter, Yomcha on August 27.
The union flag was unfolded by its president Binya Ronya. In his speech Ronya lamented that the union has so far undergone many public and social grievances for the cause of social justice.
He said that after the general election, the union will initiate for the settlement of long pending DKLTY issue and immediate resumption of all the absentee staff/ officers of various government departments in the area.

APPSC clarifies
ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, Secretary, responding to Arunachal Tribal Students Union’s demand said that the same rate of last APPSCCE cannot be applied since cost of printing has augmented substantially and the new application form is in OMR printed at Delhi as per UPSC standard and format.
The screening of application form and rejection/ acceptance thereof will be done by computer. The revenue earned out of sale proceeds will be deposited in the government account.

Children are growing up into thinking young men
Madam,
Kiren Rijiju expressed his obligation to share the agony of thousands of people across Arunachal Pradesh and the unprecedented enormous political palpitation caused due to his resignation from BJP.
Kiren Rijiju is entirely misplaced in his idea of obligation towards the people of Arunachal Pradesh and in tendering his apology after what he has done. First of all, he was supported by people of Arunachal Pradesh from every section cutting across party lines not because he belonged to any particular political party and neither the deep agony caused is because of his joining any particular political party.
It seemed he stood for all those words uttered by himself but alas! those words were just words. People saw in him the beginning of positive change in electoral politics in Arunachal Pradesh. The people looked upto him to lead the way towards a better Arunachal, away from the present scheme of things of which people are so tired of. People want change desperately in the system which is so deep rotten that they blindly trusted Rijiju and were cheated! That hurt! and it hurts! And all those words of obligation and apology sound so shallow that without it would have done better.
Rijiju has to bear this albatross around his neck beyond his life.
One thing for Dorjee Khandu and the other political leaders to note is that the change has started. It may not be too apparent in the forthcoming elections but it won't be the same after five years. Therefore, be the right person, choose the right person. Children are growing up into thinking young men.

Madam,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to draw the attention of authorities concerned towards the shortage of teachers that has been facing the Govt Higher Secondary School, Rumgong for long time. The submission of representations by various groups and individuals of the area has gone unheard.
Despite Rumgong HS school being the one of the oldest schools not only in West Siang but also in entire Siang belt, qualified and selected teachers posted under DDSE West Siang are placed at certain picked and choosed schools only. Such policy of teacher posting has gradually been touching the sentiments of general public of Rumgong area.
I therefore, request the authorities to ensure immediate posting of two teachers – S/T Hindi and J/T English at the school without routing through DDSE Aalo.
